Research seminar with Ludvig Beckman, Professor in Political Science at Stockholm University, and researcher at the Institute for Futures Studies. His research focuses on political theory and democracy research, often with an emphasis on the limits of democratic rights. He has explored questions such as who should be entitled to vote and why democratic societies continue to exclude certain groups — including prisoners, people with cognitive impairments, non-citizens and children — from the franchise, most notably in his book The Frontiers of Democracy: The Right to Vote and Its Limits. More recently, his work has extended to questions of popular sovereignty, the legitimacy of extraterritorial border controls, and the theoretical foundations of democratic obligation.
