Offentliga samtal: Tolerans, till vilket pris?

Det finns studier som pekar ut Sverige som ett av världens mest toleranta länder och tolerans betraktas ofta som en nödvändig förutsättning för en fungerande demokrati. Men vad menas egentligen med to, professor i statsvetenskap vid Uppsala universitet. Tolerans är en nödvändig förutsättning för en fungerande demokrati. Trots detta missuppfattas toleransbegreppet ofta i både politiska och vetenskapliga diskussioner, både avsiktligt och oavsiktligt. Hur formar egentligen individers tolerans och varför kan individuella rättigheter anses som viktigare än grupprättigheter i en värld där den politiska toleransen hotas? Om detta handlar Sten Widmans presentation. , professor i islamisk teologi och filosofi vid Uppsala universitet. När människor dras till våldsbejakande islamitisk extremism bottnar oftast lockelsen i andra faktorer än religiösa visar djupintervjuer med återvändare. Samtidigt används religiösa legitimitetsgrunder hos de som ansluter sig till våldsbejakande extremism.
