I am Emeritus White’s Professor of Moral Philosophy and Emeritus Fellow of Corpus Christi College at the University of Oxford. I am also a Visiting Professor at Stanford University, and Adjunct Professor at the Australian National University.

Before coming to Oxford I was Professor of Philosophy at the University of St Andrews, and before that Professor of Economics at the University of Bristol.

I work on normativity, rationality and reasoning.
