Former Deputy Prime Minister appointed new Chairman of the Board at the Institute for Futures Studies

On the first of January, 2022 Åsa Romson becomes the new chairman of the board at the Institute for Futures Studies. She will replace Catharina Elmsäter Svärd, who has had the position since 2016.

Åsa Romson is a senior researcher in environmental law and policy at IVL Svenska Miljöinstitutet where she is focusing on cities' challenges and possibilities when it comes to climate work. She is an expert in environmental law and environmental politics and used to be Minister for the Environment, and Deputy Prime Minister.

The board at the Institute for Futures Studies is appointed by the Swedish government. For information about our current board.
