I am a demographer conducting research across the main areas of demography: fertility, mortality, family formation, and migration, often with a focus on intergenerational processes. My research primarily examines Sweden from historical, contemporary, and future perspectives, but I am also interested in demographic developments in other parts of the world. I have been involved in a number of government reports for the Public Health Agency of Sweden, the National Knowledge Centre on China, and the Expert Group on Public Economics (ESO).
As an Associate Professor at Stockholm University, I am working at the Demography Unit at the Department of Sociology. I am also affiliated with Åbo Akademi University and the Centre for Cultural Evolution at Stockholm University. At the Institute for Futures Studies, my research focuses on long-term population growth and explores how demographic processes influence—and are influenced by—the environment and the economy.
