Cohort Effects on Earning Profiles: Evidence from Sweden

Susanne Dahlberg and Ruth-Aïda Nahum 2003

This paper estimates cohort size effects on earning profiles and whether these are affected by an individual’s position in the Swedish Baby Boom and Baby Busts. Amongst other, it is found that higher overall earnings are present in large cohorts and those born in upswing of a boom, contrary to small ones and downswing. Moreover, significant cohort effects are fairly consistent across gender but not across education levels.
