Global study on the use of AI in the public sector

How are people working in the public sector using AI-tools today, and how do does this change the experience of work? A survey covering employees in more than a hundred countries.

This project aims to examine how public sector employees in different parts of the world experience the use of AI in their daily work. Which AI tools—if any—are being used? What expectations and conditions shape their use? Do employees perceive that these tools enhance efficiency and creativity, and how do they relate to ethical considerations and potential risks?

The study is expected to generate a better understanding of the opportunities and challenges associated with the use of AI in the public sector, which is relevant for decision-makers at the local, national, and international levels.

The project is led by Professor Aleksander Aristovnik at the Faculty of Public Administration, University of Ljubljana (Slovenia), and is carried out in collaboration with international academic partners in more than one hundred countries. The national coordinators in Sweden are Dr. Erik Persson at Lund University and Dr. Emma Engström at the Institute for Futures Studies. If you have any questions, please contact Emma Engström.
